Maple BJJ specializes in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) but also offers Wrestling (Greco-Roman & Freestyle), Muay Thai, and MMA. Whether you want to master grappling, striking, or complete MMA skills, we provide structured programs for all levels.
How does Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) compare to other martial arts?
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling-based martial art focusing on submissions, positional control, and leverage. It was proven highly effective in the first UFC event in 1993 when Royce Gracie dominated opponents from various disciplines, including Boxing and Karate. Today, BJJ remains a fundamental skill in MMA and self-defense.
What kind of Wrestling is taught at Maple BJJ?
We offer high-level Wrestling classes in both Greco-Roman and Freestyle Wrestling. Greco-Roman emphasizes upper-body control and throws, while Freestyle Wrestling incorporates leg attacks and takedowns, making it an essential skill for MMA and grappling.
What are the benefits of training Muay Thai?
Muay Thai is the art of eight limbs, incorporating punches, kicks, elbows, and knees. Training Muay Thai improves striking technique, conditioning, reaction time, and overall combat ability. It is one of the most effective striking styles and a key component of MMA.
Can women train at Maple BJJ?
Yes, Maple BJJ is open to everyone. Women benefit from training in BJJ, Wrestling, Muay Thai, and MMA for self-defense, fitness, and competition. We maintain a respectful training environment where all students, regardless of gender, feel comfortable learning high-level techniques.
How often should I train as a beginner?
We recommend training 2 to 3 times per week to build a strong foundation while allowing your body to recover. As you progress, you can increase training frequency based on your goals.
Do I need experience to start?
No experience is necessary. Our classes are structured to help beginners learn at their own pace, whether they choose BJJ, Wrestling, Muay Thai, or MMA.
Is training at Maple BJJ safe?
Yes, safety is a priority at Maple BJJ. Our experienced instructors ensure that all training is conducted with proper technique, control, and injury prevention measures.
